Isabelle Adjani in de Grisogono

By Bernadette Morra

The Oscars are just a week away, and Hollywood is abuzz with stars and their stylists deciding what to wear on one of the biggest fashion nights of the year.

Some stars choose not one, but two ensembles - one for the main event, and another for the after parties. Appearing in two completely different outfits doubles a celebrity's chance of exposure since magazines are likely to run both images of the star.

In most cases, a dress will be chosen first, then jewelry will be found to complement the look. But in rare cases, it's the jewels that determine what the dress will be.

That was likely the case with Isabelle Adjani who wore a kaleidoscopic jewelled collar to France's film awards ceremony, Les Cesar, on Saturday.

The necklace, by de GRISOGONO, featured sapphires, white diamonds and coloured stones set in white gold, and was inspired by a painting by Gustav Klimt.

With 49 central sapphires of 98.68 carats, 3,835 multicolored stones of 142.80 carats and 36 white diamonds of 2.60 carats, this necklace was no afterthought. It's more likely that the royal blue empire-style gown by Azzaro, worn with a gold jacket, was sought out to complement the necklace.

We hope that this magnificent piece provides a hint of what's to come on Oscar night.
