Leave it to the TV world to understand that jewelry has to be big to make an impact on the small screen. The 61st annual Emmy Awards was a feast of diamonds – from Glenn Close’s stunning rose-cut pendant earrings that resembled two miniature chandeliers from Versailles, to Blake Lively’s whopping 22 carat stud earrings from Lorraine Schwartz. The Gossip Girl, in a plunging red Versace gown, also sported a 12 carat diamond ring surrounded by pave diamonds, on her index finger no less, and a diamond and rock crystal cuff bracelet, all from Schwartz. Of course sizable gems warrant substantial means. January Jones' diamond leaf and platinum bracelet from Neil Lane rings in at $175,000 while her 5 carat round diamond and platinum stud earrings, also from Neil Lane, are valued at a cool $250,000. But the entertainment industry is all about escape – whether it’s a riveting plot line or walking the red carpet in a couture gown and diamonds fit for a queen. And let's face it - you can’t get more escapist than that.
