Stars celebrate a century of Cartier America

Kate Hudson’s rippling abs threatened to steal the show at Cartier’s 100th anniversary in America celebration. Vast wedges of Hudson’s middle were bared in a gown by Rachel Roy, topped off with a $905,000 onyx and diamond panther necklace.

Hudson was only one of a crush of stars packed into Cartier’s Fifth Avenue Mansion to mark a century since the prestigious French jewelry house crossed the Atlantic.

Bernard Fornas, President & CEO of Cartier International and Frédéric de Narp, President & CEO of Cartier North America welcomed Eva Mendes, Ashley Olsen and Rachel Weisz among many others.

Jessica Biel, Tory Burch, Graydon Carter, Anne Hathaway, Sir Elton John, Demi Moore, Her Majesty Queen Noor, Zac Posen, Patti Smith, Martha Stewart, Justin Timberlake, and Stephen Wynn were just a few of the notables on the host committee.

On display were 100 one-of-a-kind Cartier creations alongside pieces on loan from private collections. Standouts included a 231-carat diamond commissioned by Steve Wynn and delivered in January, and the ruby, gold and diamond Taj Mahal necklace that Richard Burton gave to Elizabeth Taylor.

The exhibition runs through May 21st before moving to Cartier’s Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive boutique and running June 1–14, 2009.

Cartier also announced its partnership with ServiceNation at a press conference with Demi Moore where a new Trinity charity bracelet was debuted benefiting the charity.  The new limited-edition Trinity bracelet in 18k yellow, rose and white gold and diamonds, will be sold on individual red, white and blue silk cords at all Cartier boutiques nationwide. Each bracelet is $1,750 U.S. with a $350 donation being
made to ServiceNation.
