Much attention has been paid in the last several years to the need to source diamonds in a responsible way.
There are also issues involved in the mining of gold that are coming to public awareness thanks to campaigns such as No Dirty Gold.
Among the luxury jewelers who comply with No Dirty Gold’s Golden Rules for responsible metals sourcing is Boucheron, the French house, founded in Paris in 1858. Boucheron has also been a member of the CRJC (Council for Responsible Jewellery Practices) since August 2006.
In an effort to raise aware and funds for The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance, Boucheron is celebrating the launch of the movie Home with an online auction of a special edition piece. Inspired by its Quatre collection which combines four contrasting colours and textures of precious metal, Boucheron has created “The Magnetic Quatre” cube. The cube is crafted with a unique combination of smooth white gold, ribbed pink gold, a grosgrain pattern of yellow gold and chocolate gold in a Pointe de Diamante motif. The four golds total 70g and symbolize our planet’s four elements; wood, air, water and earth.
The Magnetic Quatre will be auctioned off on eBay.fr from June 6th to June 13th, beginning the day after the worldwide premiere of Home. The film, by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, is an environmentally-sensitive portrait of the earth through aerial images filmed in more than 50 countries around the world.
Boucheron’s parent company, PPR, is the exclusive worldwide partner of Home. The worldwide release of the movie will be organized by EuropaCorp on June 5th, 2009 – World Environment Day – in cinemas, on television, on DVD and on the Internet around the world.
The online auction will be accessible through www.boucheron.com. All proceeds will go to The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance.
